Our Son's Transfer to Colorado

Well, our Army son has transferred to Fort Carson, Colorado (near Colorado Springs) as a "reward" for reenlisting for a 3-year hitch. He has been assigned to A Company, 4th Infantry Division, Special Troops Battalion there. This is what it states in Wikipedia about this unit:

The 4th Infantry Division is a modular division of the United States Army based at Fort Carson, Colorado, with four brigade combat teams. It is a very technically advanced combat division in the U.S. Army.[1]

The division has two nicknames; the first, "Ivy," is a play on words of the Roman numeral IV or 4. Ivy leaves also symbolize tenacity and fidelity which is the basis of the division's motto: "Steadfast and Loyal". The second nickname, "Iron Horse", has been recently adopted to indicate the speed and power of the division.

It has a long and illustrious history. If you are interested, you can read the Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_Infantry_Division_(United_States)

The Special Troops Battalion was just recently moved from Fort Hood, TX to Fort Carson, CO - so his unit are pretty much newcomers to the state of Colorado - as is our son. Their site isn't much yet but you can read a bit about them here.

We congratulate our Army son and are eager to be present at the hospital when his new son is born in September. God bless him & his family - and the rest of our military. Until next time, may peace be with you....
