My wonderful husband of 15 years was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in 2006. The news was devastating but some how we managed to get beyond the initial shock! We hope this blog will be useful and informative for others who may not know they have Alpha-1 or have been recently diagnosed. While also showing that life can go on in a relatively normal fashion. Research is making progress and there is hope. We are truly blessed with 5 children, 18 grandchildren, and one loving family.

It is Official.....
My wonderful husband has been formally and officially accepted into the Deacon program for the Diocese of Boise (state of Idaho). I am so proud of all of his hard work - he has been doing the same coursework as the Deacon candidates for the past four years (he graduates from the Lay Ministry program next month) and has discerned that he is being called to the Deaconate. He tried to not acknowledge that calling - he struggled for several years - but once he made his request to the Deacon running the program, he felt relief (as well as a bit scared) so realized fully that he had taken the right path. Please keep him your prayers. He has 2 years of one more class, some retreats, and a lot of shadowing of a current Deacon to learn all the nuances and proper ways to do all that they do. If God is willing, he will be ordained in October of 2016.
