My wonderful husband of 15 years was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in 2006. The news was devastating but some how we managed to get beyond the initial shock! We hope this blog will be useful and informative for others who may not know they have Alpha-1 or have been recently diagnosed. While also showing that life can go on in a relatively normal fashion. Research is making progress and there is hope. We are truly blessed with 5 children, 18 grandchildren, and one loving family.

Coming Down After Vacation
We're sitting in the Denver International Airport waiting for our flight home. What better time to reflect on the vacation we've just completed. We saw lots of family members including two grandsons, mother-in-law, aunt, uncle, son, daughters, and the other 3 grandkids, as well as family friends. We have been in Florida and Texas and all states in between. We've seen temps from 20 to 80 in these three short weeks. Is it any wonder that we're both sick? But we had a wonderful time. Saw Disney World on Christmas Day - which I'll never do again - but everyone should do it once. We saw the beautiful Christmas lights at Bellingrath Gardens and we celebrated the new year with two of our children and their families in Texas. We were even asked to babysit for 3 grandkids - we had such a great time. All in all the weather was fabulous - had to wear the sunglasses quite a bit. But as I sit in sunny Denver today, I wonder what wonderful winter fantasies are awaiting be in the cold cold north! Ready or not, here we come! Brrrrrr....and here's hoping for an early spring!
